In between our dreams is silence, open doorways to the soul, within which fantasies are real, chimeras whole; where the truth of all creation, the conscious truth of all creation, meanders quietly, behind the scenes, beyond the role.
As our thoughts blare, emotions surge, and lives spin like whirligigs in a windstorm, we frequently overlook the biggest part of who we really are: space. The objects, sensory information, and life circumstances we continuously encounter grab the attention of our mind, heart, and body. The quiet things surrounding them, in essence, form, and rhythm; usually go unnoticed; unless we are sensitively tuning in to that which seems to not be there, instead of focusing on the squeaky wheel of the egoic mind and its interpretation of our physical sensory experiences.
We can train ourselves to notice the vastness of this space, the depth and wisdom of this silence, in the same way we learn to focus on the sky surrounding rainbows, clouds, the sun, the moon, and the stars; the background of a photograph; the quiet in between the sounds within a song; or the pauses within our conversational calligraphy. We get so wrapped up in trying to convey the expressions of our soul, as it interfaces with our humanity, that we often miss its most meaningful contribution: silence. Every quantum wave function arises out of this silence, collapses either randomly or intentionally into one of an infinite number of coexisting possibilities, and then returns to a pool of silence once again; the silence of the soul. As the airborne rushes of inhalations and exhalations return to the silence from which they came, we have an opportunity to connect with the capacious, silent center of our soul.
So focus on your breath as it is coming in, going out, and all the silence in between. Notice the silence as much as you notice the breath. Move into it. When you learn this, you will benefit more from breathing meditation, and be better able to walk within the silence of the soul.
Silence
Take 5-10 minutes right now, and focus on silence in some way. It could be breathing meditation, the space between your thoughts, the sky around the clouds, or the pauses between the words of conversation. Practice this daily, gradually increasing the amount of time you spend doing it, until it becomes an ongoing part of your life. Your life will transform in unimagined ways. Your entire world will change. You will feel free, open, and aware. Please start right now. I kept this post super-short to create the space for it.
